Vice President Mahamadou Bawumia has extended a token of love to a poor 82-year-old woman by building, furnishing and officially handing over a two-bedroom house to her.
This octogenarian was a leper before she has cured of her ailments. She had been abandoned by her family at Motori in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region
Dr Bawumia embarked on this benevolent act following a Joy News documentary that detailed the plight and impoverishment of Daari Pogo, who was forced to live in a dilapidated 5 meters by 6-meter mud hut with her granddaughter Adjara after her abandonment.
The Vice President mobilized resources and within six months has been able to put up a decent two-bedroom house for her.
At a short ceremony to hand over the keys to Daari Pogo and her granddaughter Adjara on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, Dr Bawumia said:
Today is a happy day, not just for me, but more especially my mother here Daari Pogo, and our child Adjara. I am so so happy.
