Market women at the Abofour market have been attacked by some unknown armed robbers who came to their market and made away with a lot of money.
According to a report by the Offinso Police command, the market was attacked around 6:30 pm when the market women were preparing themselves to go back to their homes when the unfortunate incident happened.
Offinso police dispatched men to go and control the situation after they received reports but were unable to arrest anyone as they run after the police started shooting at them.
Only one person so far has reported that they were robbed by the armed robbers, a mobile money merchant who claims the robbers forced GHC14,000 out of him.
Offinso District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Benedict Wonkyi in a statement assured the mass that they were working very hard to bring the culprits to book.
We received information that armed robbers have besieged Abofour market. Upon receiving that information, they informed me and I quickly dispatched the Offinso District Patrol team to the scene. Gunshots were fired and the robbers fled to the bush. It was later that one person came to the District police office that he was a victim of the robbery incident,” he said.
